Guest chef at La Boucherie, Vashon Island WA – August 27th

This is going to be fun. Really fun. The guys behind the amazing Vashon Island farm Seabreeze have a small restaurant.

I was recently over there for a day’s photoshoot, which was just mind blowing. What was even more mind blowing was an email that was waiting for me when I got home from their restaurant manager:

“hey, you want to do a guest chef night at the restaurant in August?”

The answer – YES. But I have to do this with a fantastic new friend of ours – Daniel Ahern.

You see, we have been spending quite a bit of time on the Seattle ferries recently.. A short ferry ride from Seattle (15 minutes), life is rural and incredible.

Danny, Shauna and their daughter are the reason for us thinking about buying a season ferry ticket. You will most likely know them as the genius chef and writer behind the two wonderful blogs Gluten Free Girl and more recently Pork Knife & Spoon

The first food I ever tasted of Danny’s was a head cheese he made. That sold it to me, I REALLY wanted to cook with this guy, have fun in the kitchen, and learn a lot. Our passions for food are pretty similar – we both like classic and rustic French food. We both adore the local farms that make up this wonderful state of Washington.

So, when Seabreeze mentioned this guest chef position. The answer was obvious. I have to do this with Danny.

Frantic emails and twitterings (still cannot say Tweet..) started to flesh out a menu. They came over for lunch. We sat down with a pad of paper, and started salivating.

Here is the big question…

Want to come to dinner?

This is going to be on August 27th, on Vashon Island at La Boucherie – starting around 7pm. A set tasting menu highlighting the amazing meats and wine Seabreeze Farm produces.

The cost is $65 a person. Wine that evening will be half price, or bring that special bottle (or three..) for a $10 corking fee.
